That extra tiny bit of sharpening helps in a lot of images. More luminance kills detail so I generally don't exceed 40. Now it shows the RAF and DNG files.ĭid anyone notice that the IXT DNG files give pretty decent color rendering with the Adobe Standard color profile? Normally I considered their profiles disgusting whether it be Fuji or my old Canon 5D Mk II. Once imported I use Iridient to covert all the files in that folder to DNG then synchronize the folder in LR. My process is to use LR to pick/choose which RAF files to import, which takes a little time. LR reads the DNG extremely fast but I still use LR to cull through the RAF files so doesn't really matter. After the DNG conversion by IXT, do you guys see an increase in speed while working in LR? LR also seems to be pretty slow when it comes to previewing/processing RAF files compared to raws from Bayer sensor cameras. You guys have me convinced I need IXT more than I need another lens! I basically set everything to o or neutral and PP'd the DNG files in LR as I usually do. Especially since half the time I forget my laptop in my truck so have to walk out to get it in order to convert files. This shortens up my post processing so so much now. So impressed with how Brian listens to customers, responds to questions, and does wonderful improvements. Success!!! So excited that this now runs on my "old" AMD powered desktop!!!! (By old it is an old build with old AMD processor but thanks to plenty of fast memory and an SSD will still run circles around most modern built PC's) I love the output images but it is so much more work to use my Intel powered laptop just to convert and back onto my desktop to edit. My fingers are so crossed that my AMD machine will be able to run this version.

I haven't made it home nor have I had the time to install it as I'm at work but I notice the hardware requirement of an intel processor was removed.

The latest IXT Iridient X-Transformer 1.0 beta 3 is now available. Of course, if it doesn't work well for a particular image, if you kept your original RAF, then you can use different settings in IXT. A lot of eye-straining side-by-side comparison of multiple different development strategies on the same image confirmed for me that the above works well. in IXT for different ISOs, but it made for a really complicated workflow. I did experiment with different levels of sharpness, etc. IXT does a great job on color noise reduction, but a tiny bit more in Lightroom helps some images. * Adjust to taste, and dial back or turn off anything that isn't needed because IXT did a good job on the DNG. For Noise, Luminance 40, Detail 40, Contrast 0, Color 25, Detail 50, Smooth 50. For Sharpening, Amount 12, Radius 1.0, Detail 25 * In Lightroom, I use a preset to apply the following sharpening and noise reduction (my basic starting point). * I save my original RAFs because storage is cheap, and IXT is only Beta 2.0 after all. * Process the RAF to create a DNG, and then import the DNG into Lightroom. Turn off all the Lightroom sharpening and noise reduction in IXT and apply lens corrections if that's what you prefer to do. * Set IXT up with "More Detailed" RAW processing, leave Sharpening and Color Noise at Default, and set Luminance to None. (This is based on testing with an image that had lots of high frequency detail and out of focus areas, which are very prone to the X-Trans "worminess".) I've confirmed for myself that with X-T2 files, at all ISOs between 20, I get the best results as follows. In my experience, Beta 2.0 of IXT does most of the RAW development better than Lightroom, but not all. I think the hardest part is figuring out which settings work best with your favourite image processing software. The workflow really is pretty straightforward.

I liked On1 too at first glance but if those test shots are any measure the blacks are very weak If you're on Windows I would just get the free beta IXT and try it out as it looks to be the optimal option for high detail XTrans photography. I was just playing with it and mine appear to be normal TIFF's.

I don't think the macOS full version supports RAW->DNG transformations.

On1 shows very good output for x-trans, it looks simple to use, plus it isn't that expensive. My work flow isn't huge to buy LR license, plus I don't like that massive catalog. I would really like to have full version of Iridient, but no Windows version yet, and it may never happen. I think I might check it out as well those results are looking really good Thanks for the review, I think, I'm falling in love with On1. I'm thinking that Fujifilm should consider buying Iridient/Brian. Iridient Developer in now available for Windows !!!.
